Craig Groeschel made two books on my top books of 2008.
That doesn’t happen very often. But, the guy wrote two
winners. One of the books he wrote was called, “IT”
and the other “Confessions of a Pastor.” The man gets
“IT”. He has rapidly become one of my favorite pastors
on the planet. He is utterly refreshing.

Francis McGraw wrote a book called, “Praying Hyde” on the
life of John Hyde. The book is probably out of print,
but you can still get it used on Amazon. It is a small
book, but it’s worth its weight in gold. Well worth
the read. It will inspire you to pray and believe God
for more, and seek Him for Himself.
3.
Jonathan Goforth wrote a book called, “By my Spirit” – it
chronicles the work of God in China during Goforth’s
ministry. It’s another one that inspired me,
challenged me, and called me to seek more of God.
4.
Wesley Duewel wrote, “Revival Fire” and since revival has
been the theme of my reading throughout this year, I
included this title. It’s a good book that summarizes
many of the movements of God over the centuries. It
won’t go into too much depth on any one revival, but will
give you a broad stroke view of the history of revival.

One classic for the list. It’s probably been a while
since you’ve picked up St. John of the Cross’s book, “The
Dark Night of the Soul” (OK, most of you have never picked
it up, but it is worth the read, that’s why they call it a
classic!). You can find some good modern translations
of this old classic. St. John of the Cross understood
the soul. He is deep, but it’s like mining for gold.
