FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL STUDY AND GROWTH, we encourage you to make a daily habit of reading your Bible and asking God to teach you. Here is an easy method using your Bible, a few colored pencils, and a notebook:

 

To begin, simply ask God to help you understand what you are about to read. Then read a chapter of the Bible. (Psalms is a great place to begin.) Read the chapter two or three times, maybe even out loud, and ask yourself two questions: 

 

1. What does this teach ME ABOUT GOD? 

2. What does this tell ME TO DO? 

 

Use the pencils to underline words in your Bible that stand out to you. (i.e., God’s name, God’s character, promises, etc.).  Then simply write down what you have found.  (This is NOT a test with a right or wrong answer. This is you finding what God says about Himself and your personal responsibilities.)
